Killian Phillips decided the game in the 80th minute with a close-range finish, as St Mirren beat Aberdeen 2-0 at Pittodrie.
Early on, Phillips broke through the centre and dragged a right-footed attempt wide (9.) after Mikael Mandron led a fast break.
He then created the next chance, supplying Mandron for an effort the Dons goalkeeper saved (58.).
Soon after, Phillips forced another stop from the middle of the box (59.). He finished with five attempts, two on target, and six touches in the area, underlining his constant threat between Aberdeen's centre-backs.
The decisive moment followed when Mandron's cross from a set piece reached him, and he tucked it in from very close range (80.), the midfielder's timing into the six-yard box proving the difference.
St Mirren host Dundee United next. The Dons visit Dundee.
