Davide Frattesi once again came close to leaving Inter Milan in the January window, but a combination of circumstances has kept him in Nerazzurri colours, for now.
Interest from Nottingham Forest was concrete, with the English side reportedly ready to welcome him.
However, the move collapsed for a clear reason: Inter could not secure a suitable replacement, as per FCInterNews.
One of the profiles admired by coach Cristian Chivu, Curtis Jones, remained only a suggestion rather than a realistic target.

That leaves Chivu with the task of fully reintegrating Frattesi into his plans.
The Italian midfielder’s contribution remains important in the short term, especially during a period when injuries have deprived Inter of key figures such as Nicolo Barella and Hakan Calhanoglu.
Chivu has already sent a signal by giving Frattesi minutes in recent matches, showing that the club still intends to rely on him.
For the next few months at least, Inter must again become the growth platform it once represented for the midfielder.
Contract renewal talks, however, have never truly taken off.
That means the issue of his long-term future is likely to resurface in the summer, when all parties will reassess their options.
For now, Frattesi’s focus must stay on the pitch. His physical problems appear to be behind him, and he now has the chance to rediscover his best form.
The upcoming trip to Sassuolo carries added significance, as a return to familiar surroundings could help him turn the tide and relaunch his ambitions, both at club level and with the Italian national team.
