Deives rejected Jaraguá thrice for Corinthians, praises kids’ loyalty

Corinthians ended up as the runner-up in the National Futsal League after being defeated by Jaraguá at Arena Jaraguá last Saturday night (13th), by 3-0. In the first match, held at Wlamir Marques, both teams had drawn with a score of 3-3.

Right after the match, still on the court, the Corinthians Futsal icon, who will play his last tournament with the Corinthians jersey – and of his career as an athlete – in Japan, at the beginning of 2026, gave an interview to Rádio Coringão and Central do Timão. Deives revealed that he turned down offers from the opponent on three occasions due to his strong connection with Corinthians. Despite this, he was approached by several fans of the opponent after the final whistle, showing the legacy he built on the courts.

“Man, I feel very honored. This is a team I never played for, never worked here. And they tried to bring me during the Jaraguá Futsal restructuring in 2020, 2021, and 2022, they tried to bring me for three years. And my love for Corinthians spoke louder, Leco chose to leave for Joinville. And to have the affection, the respect of the fans and the community of Jaraguá, a team I never played for, is a gift I also carry. They were incredible with me, with my family these two days. And being honored here at the end of the game by this jersey and this community is something I never imagined,” he began.

Then, Corinthians' number 10 praised the team's futsal project, which starts from the initiation categories (Under-7 to professional). Furthermore, he highlighted that in the last five editions of the National League, the Alvinegro was present in three of them (2020, 2022, and 2025). In two of them, they ended up as runners-up (Magnus and Jaraguá) and, in one, as champions (Atlântico).

“It was always the result of a lot of work, a lot of dedication, everything I did with the Corinthians jersey and always respecting, not only my jersey but respecting Jaraguá Futsal, the community, and the sport. One day we win, one day we lose, there was no project in the world that in the last five years competed in three national leagues, three national league finals: 2020, 2022, and 2025 and I was very, I am very proud to be in these, in 2016 (champion against Magnus). So, there are four national league finals for the club, we took two, and that's sports, man, we have to have the humility to understand that Jaraguá deserved it this time.”

“I can say that Corinthians' futsal project is the biggest futsal project in the world, starting with the project with seven-year-old children, and I am very happy to be a pillar, to be a flag and to carry Corinthians in my heart and carry the Corinthians flag wherever I go for the rest of my life,” he continued.

Later, he analyzed Corinthians' season, which ended with the second place in the National Futsal League (LNF). Additionally, two titles were won (São Paulo Cup and Mucho Más International Tournament) and the runner-up in the Paulista Futsal Championship (Magnus) and the Gramado Supercup of the modality. He also mentioned the legacy he left for the sport.

“If I knew the recipe, I really wanted to finish this National League title, unfortunately, it couldn't be on our side, but, man, I have to thank God, I strongly believe that I leave with a sense of duty fulfilled, of dedication, of respect for the jersey. I believe it is a legacy I leave for the new generations, for those who will wear this jersey later, it is a legacy that we must always fight for and I will always fight for it, so that there is respect and dedication as this story deserves, as this jersey deserves.”

“Unfortunately, we didn't finish with the National League Trophy, but we end with an incredible year, a year that had five finals and now always look to raise the Corinthians Futsal Corinthians flag for the rest of my life, because I will leave two Corinthians children and the love for this club will be eternal, there's no way it won't be.”

The 'little guy good with the ball' once again emphasized his affection for Corinthians and detailed projects he has outside the courts: “I will continue to carry the Corinthians flag wherever I am, one more fan. I have my projects outside futsal, my training center for children, which I have in São Paulo, and I will open the first unit in February in Rio Grande do Sul. I have my project outside the sport, but I will also always be a fan outside the club. My two children are Corinthians fans, the two youngest. So, whatever I do outside the sport, I will always have Corinthians in my heart.”

Finally, he was asked about a possible farewell with a festive match with his main friendships at Corinthians: “I would really like that to happen, I believe it would be amazing to gather the friends I made at the club and outside the club in a farewell game. I will leave a lot of desire for the club with this decision. I confess that I am already very grateful for all the tributes I have been receiving in recent days.”

“At the stadium, it was really an incredible thing, in the last game (of the Brasileirão, against Juventude). I have never seen Gaviões and the Corinthians fans pay tribute to a player from any department, not even in football. And that happened (with me), man, very incredible. And if we can have a farewell, festive game, so I can have my friends by my side, it will really be the cherry on top, but I leave it to the management, if they think it's good, I will be very happy,” he concluded.

In ten years at Corinthians, there were more than 300 goals scored, two National Futsal Leagues (2016 and 2022), Paulista Championships, Paulista League (2022), Futsal Supercup (2020), São Paulo Cup (2025), and Mucho Más International Tournament (2025).
