Demichelis ‘to push’ for Mallorca star Samú Costa at Leipzig | OneFootball

Relegated Mallorca face another setback, with Martín Demichelis at Leipzig seeking Samú Costa, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Mallorca dropped into Liga Hypermotion after missing survival on the final day. Demichelis had a contract and vowed to stay to lead a return, yet left when Leipzig made their move, a departure that rankled because of the manner.

Key exits have followed. Vedat Muriqi, one of last season’s leading scorers, has joined Fenerbahçe for 15 million, the 32-year-old unwilling to play in the second tier.

Further departures are expected. Leo Román, Pablo Torre, Jan Virgili and Costa are all close to the exit, some likely on loan, others via permanent sales.

Costa’s strong campaign has earned him a place at the 2026 World Cup with Portugal, boosting his market. He is contracted until 2028 with a €30 million clause, a figure Leipzig would struggle to meet, yet Mallorca cannot expect to keep him for much longer, and a switch to Demichelis’s side would sting at Son Moix.
