Dimarco's all-time Serie A assist record

Image de l'article :Dimarco's all-time Serie A assist record

Marcus Thuram could not help but to drop to his knees, take Federico Dimarco's left foot and polish his boot - the shoeshine celebration. A nod to Inter history, and to one of the club’s most iconic images. Back in 1997/98, Ronaldo scored relentlessly, and Francesco Moriero, often providing the assist, would rush over to shine his boots. He did it too for Alvaro Recoba on that unforgettable debut against Brescia Calcio.

So after paying tribute to Thierry Henry with his corner-flag celebration in Como, Thuram brought another gem from football’s memory back to life. It makes sense. “Tikus” was born in Parma in 1997, while his father Lilian Thuram was playing there, and spent eight years in Italy before the family moved to FC Barcelona. He grew up immersed in football and surrounded by Serie A stars, his father’s France teammates, and later Barcelona greats.

And after the opener against Torino, the shoeshine was Thuram’s way of saying thank you for yet another Dimarco assist. A delicate, perfectly weighted cross to the far post. A towering header from Marcus. A beautiful goal.

The game in Turin brought two more assists for Dimarco, taking him to 18 in the league this season - an outright Serie A record since assists began being tracked in 2004/05. The previous best was 16, set by Alejandro Gomez for Atalanta in 2019/20.

The numbers are remarkable. Depending on the provider, some count 17 rather than 18 because of the corner against Bologna that led to Thuram’s goal after a small deflection off a defender, but Lega Serie A officially credits Dimarco with 18.

Against Torino, he provided two more trademark deliveries: the cross for Thuram’s opener and then the pinpoint corner for Bisseck to make it 2-0.

With 18 assists, Dimarco sits alongside the leaders across Europe’s top five leagues, level with Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United) and Michael Olise (Bayern Munich).

His 2025/26 league return now stands at six goals and 18 assists: a total of 24 goal involvements, an extraordinary stat. And his left foot has been central to another remarkable record: Inter have scored 17 goals from corners in this Serie A campaign, more than any side in a single season since this data has been recorded (since 2004/05), matching Napoli’s record from 2022/23.
