Manchester City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has been named in the 2025 FIFPRO Men’s World 11.
The FIFPRO Men’s World 11 and FIFPRO Women’s World 11 are all-star teams made up of the game's leading footballers and voted by the players, with this year’s qualifying period falling between 15 July 2024 to 3 August 2025.
Donnarumma enjoyed an exceptional campaign across that timeframe with former club Paris Saint-Germain, helping the French side to their 13th Ligue One title before playing a key role as PSG went on to win the UEFA Champions League for the first time.
The Italian international produced exceptional performances in the knockout stages against Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal while in the final against Internazionale, he kept a clean sheet as PSG won 5–0 to secure a first-ever continental treble.
Prior to joining City this summer, he also helped Luis Enrique’s side reach the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup final.
Having made the move to City at the start of September, Donnarumma has since continued that magnificent form and played a major part in helping Pep Guardiola’s side rise into second place in the Premier League table and make an unbeaten start to our Champions League campaign.
Donnarumma’s latest special recognition also comes hard on the heels of the 26-year-old winning the 2025 Yashin Trophy – awarded to the best goalkeeper over the past 12 months – at September’s Ballon d’Or awards ceremony.
More than 26,000 professionals from 68 countries took part in this year’s FIFPRO XI selection, picking the three players who, in their opinion, were the most outstanding in each of the following positions: goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders and forwards.
GOALKEEPER: Gianluigi Donnarumma (Paris Saint-Germain / Manchester City, Italy)
DEFENDERS: Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool, Netherlands); Achraf Hakimi (Paris Saint-Germain, Morocco); Nuno Mendes (Paris Saint-Germain, Portugal)
MIDFIELDERS: Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid, England); Cole Palmer (Chelsea, England); Pedri (Barcelona, Spain); Vitinha (Paris Saint-Germain, Portugal)
FORWARDS: Ousmane Dembele (Paris Saint-Germain, France); Kylian Mbappe (Real Madrid, France); Lamine Yamal (Barcelona, Spain)
Erling Haaland and former City star Kevin De Bruyne were both nominated in the Men’s shortlist with City skipper Alex Greenwood making the Women’s shortlist.
Everyone at Manchester City congratulates Gianluigi on this latest achievement.
