Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl has given a first update on the injury concerns that overshadowed the club’s dominant 6–1 win over Atalanta. Speaking after the match, Eberl suggested that Jamal Musiala’s issue appears to be the least serious of the three.
“Jamal Musiala’s injury is the least serious,” Eberl explained. “It was more of a precautionary measure.”
Alphonso Davies’ situation, however, appears more worrying. The Canadian left-back had only recently returned from a muscle injury before being forced off during the match.
“Phonzy Davies unfortunately has another muscular problem,” Eberl said.
There was also concern for goalkeeper Jonas Urbig, who collided with Atalanta striker Nikola Krstović late in the match before the Italian side scored their consolation goal.
“I’m not entirely sure about Jonas Urbig yet,” Eberl added. “He was a bit dazed and had a headache.”
Further medical examinations are expected to determine the severity of the injuries in the coming days. Bayern will be hoping the trio can return quickly as the club continues its push in the Champions League and domestic competitions.
