Ederson has paused negotiations with all other interested clubs to give Manchester United priority in their pursuit of the Atalanta midfielder.

According to Fabrizio Romano, talks between the clubs are at an advanced stage, and United are waiting to give their final green light before moving to close the deal, a position that points to internal questions rather than Atalanta’s willingness to sell.

That stance from the Brazilian is a significant development, effectively opening the way for United to push on with a key midfield addition.

With Casemiro set to leave at the end of his contract, and Manuel Ugarte failing to convince, the Red Devils are in need of a midfield reinforcement.

Atletico Madrid had been serious rivals after agreeing personal terms with Ederson, but their inability to meet Atalanta’s €40-50 million valuation appears to have cost them their place at the front of the queue.
