An internal error has apparently occurred at FC Bayern’s campus. A message was probably intended for a colleague, but ended up elsewhere.

A scout from FC Bayern’s youth academy apparently accidentally published a scouting message in his WhatsApp status. According to the German newspaper tz, the message was actually intended for a colleague. Instead, it was visible to numerous contacts of the employee.

The message was about Amara Sangare from French club Rouen Sapins FC. The Bayern employee wrote: „Amara SANGARE. His club is Rouen Sapins FC. You can find him on Eyeball.“ He then asked: „Can you please check him out? Thank you and VG.“ Eyeball is a platform that is used to scout players.

The status was deleted shortly afterwards, but several of the scout’s contacts had apparently been able to read it beforehand. Status messages on WhatsApp normally remain visible for up to 24 hours unless they are removed beforehand.

There was a similar case last year

This is not the first known incident of this kind for Bayern. Last year, a scout had already shared a list of 15 youth players from other clubs in his WhatsApp status. At the time, the message read: „Please prioritize these 2011 players in your scouting according to your region for the coming season. We need first impressions by 15.09. Thank you.“

According to BILD, this message was also not intended for the public at the time. It was supposed to end up in an internal WhatsApp group so that other employees could observe the players mentioned.

It is not yet known how FC Bayern will assess the current case internally, but the mishap has made public a talent that was apparently to be passed on to the campus for examination.
