Europa League: Benfica set out qualifying path and pre-season start date

Benfica have confirmed pre-season for 2026/27 will begin on 25 June, and mapped out their Europa League route requiring three qualifying rounds. The club said in a statement that preparations start on that date.

They will enter in the second qualifying round, with the draw on 17 June. The first leg is set for 23 July, the return on 30 July.

The third qualifying round draw is scheduled for 20 July. Those ties are due on 6 and 13 August.

The play-off draw takes place on 3 August, with the two legs on 20 and 27 August. Winners reach the league phase.

The new campaign will start while the World Cup group stage is ongoing, so there is a strong possibility Benfica will be without some internationals early in pre-season as they prepare for Europa League fixtures.
