This is per a report from The Athletic, who believe that the 53-year-old, who has a reported net worth of $13.3 billion and is regarded as the richest man in Denmark, has shown interest in buying the Owls out of administration.

However, the report goes on to state that it is "unclear" whether the interest has led to a firm bid, unlike the likes of Mike Ashley who have already submitted offers.

The administrators at Begbies Traynor are demanding at least £30 million to cover outstanding taxes and satisfy the EFL's insolvency rules.

Povlsen, who built his fortune primarily on fashion through being the owner of retailer Bestseller, would be an exciting option for Owls fans, as they continue to wait patiently for a deal to be done.

In the latest takeover update at Hillsborough, The Athletic states that Holch Povlsen has shown an interest in buying Sheffield Wednesday.

The Danish businessman, who was born in the Faroe Islands, has been the majority owner at FC Midtjylland, one of Denmark's most successful clubs, since 2023, when he purchased a 60% stake from Brentford owner Matthew Benham to take his shareholding to 95%.

Outside of football, Povlsen built his fortune in the fashion business, taking over his parents' fashion business, Bestseller, at 28, which has brands such as Jack&Jones, Only, and Vero Moda under its umbrella, whilst he also has the largest individual shareholding in British retailer ASOS.

That has led the 53-year-old to be reportedly Denmark's richest man, with a net worth of $13.3 billion, as per Forbes.

However, it is unclear whether Povlsen's interest in Wednesday has resulted in a legitimate bid. Five formal offers have been tabled, with another expected to come, according to The Athletic's report, so it's now a case of waiting to see whether the Dane is among those.

Administrators, Begbies Traynor, are accepting nothing less than £30 million for the club.

Paul Stanley, joint administrator and partner at Begbies Traynor, told The Athletic that, despite the ideal scenario being that an exclusive bidder would be announced by December 5, the likelihood is that the date may be pushed back a week or two.

Therefore, Sheffield Wednesday fans will have to continue to wait on the edge of their seats to see who will be the person to take them out of administration.

Former Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley's reported £20 million bid fell short of what was required, but he's expected to still be in the hunt, as is US businessman John McEvoy, who has lifelong Wednesday fan John McClure's band, Reverand and the Makers, signed to his record label.

With another US-based and UK-based group set to be interested, that leaves room for a couple more interested parties to fill the reported six that are set to be targeting a bid over the coming weeks.
