Cesare Casadei was one of Chelsea’s early experiments in the buy low, sell high on your players project at Chelsea, netting a minimal profit on his sale to Torino after a few years with the Blues which were mainly spent out on loan.

That early career path stunted his development a little, according to his current manager Roberto D’Aversa:

“He is a strong midfielder; he can get all the headers, but he can also play football. He needs consistency. He paid for a crucial move, to Chelsea. He didn’t play, and missed playing at a team where you can grow,” the Torino boss said,

Casadei’s loans could have been better, and there was also an early recall which was clearly a mistake. But some players do really benefit – look at how Andrey Santos went from unable to get into the Nottingham Forest team to a regular Chelsea starter because of a great loan to Strasbourg.

Premier League return still possible for Casadei

TuttoMercatoWeb note that Everton are interested in Casadei now, so clearly he’s catching up with where he’s meant to be at 23. He has 4 goals in 16 starts for the Turin based side, but has been used more as a sub recently – hence the question about his form.

We’re impressed to see his Duels won % is in the 93rd percentile. His big frame clearly is still helping, and it’s easy to see him thriving at a mid-table Premier League team one day if he tidies up his game.

In other news…

Reece James is out injured right now, but he’s been great all season when on the pitch and is top in one creative stat.

Jorrel Hato was chuffed to score another FA Cup goal on Saturday, and spoke about how excited Chelsea were to be going to Wembley.
