Former Real Madrid star Marco Asensio is on course to leave Paris Saint-Germain before the transfer deadline.
Asensio spent the second half of the 2024/25 season on loan at Premier League side Aston Villa as PSG went on to seal their first-ever UEEFA Champions League crown in May.
His place in Paris was further impacted by Luis Enrique’s call not to include him in PSG’s squad for this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup.
Despite showing a spark in Birmingham, Unai Emery opted against making his loan permanent, with Villa impacted by missing out on Champions League qualification, with Asensio landing back in Paris.
Asensio joined PSG from Los Blancos in 2023 as a free agent, but has struggled for prominence in the French capital, and he wants to move.
The winger still has half an eye on making Luis de la Fuente’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup next summer and to keep that alive he needs to move.
Previous reports from French outlet L’Equipe, indicated multiple clubs had reached out to PSG over his potential availability, if PSG were willing to sell.
As per the latest from Sky Sports, previous interest from Turkish Super Lig giants Fenerbahce has reignited, despite the exit of Jose Mourinho.
The updated report claims claims a deal is in place for Asensio to now complete a permanent move to Isatanbul as he seeks an exit from Paris.
Villa expressed a fleeting interest in signing him, but Unai Emery was unconvinced by a return to Villa Park, but they were unable to agree a comeback package.
A deal is expected to be completed in the coming hours but the Turkish transfer deadline runs for longer than other European clubs with an extension date on until September 12 to wrap up any final details over Asensio and other last minute arrivals at the club.
