Michael Skubala is on the Terriers' radar as Kevin Nagle hunts for a new manager
Huddersfield Town finally made the decision to part ways with manager Lee Grant on Saturday evening after a crushing defeat away at Burton Albion.
Despite being sixth in the League One table, pressure was mounting on Terriers boss Grant after a run of three league matches without a win, and the 3-1 loss to the Brewers was the final nail in the coffin for American owner Kevin Nagle.
The plug was pulled on Grant's first managerial job after less than eight months in charge of the West Yorkshire club, and although he leaves Town in a play-off spot as it currently stands, tension was rising on the terraces, leading to a call being made to terminate the 42-year-old's contract.
It will be relatively new Sporting Director Chris Markham - who FLW revealed exclusively was returning to the club to take up the role in November - who will take charge of the process to find Grant's successor at the Accu Stadium, and overtures are already being made towards one individual who knows League One all too well.

Football League World can exclusively reveal that one name is already on the club's radar to replace Grant, and that is Lincoln City manager Michael Skubala.
The 42-year-old has been with the Imps since November 2023 after replacing Mark Kennedy in the dugout of the LNER Stadium, and after finshes of seventh and 11th in the past two seasons, he now has his side second in the League One table after 26 matches.
That has seemingly impressed the powers-that-be at Huddersfield, who now have Nottingham-born Skubala - who has a 45 per cent win record as manager of Lincoln - as a top target for the job, should they be able to prise him away from his current club and contract, despite being four places higher and 10 points better off in the division as it currently stands.
Skubala - whose contract at City does not expire until the summer of 2028 - is no stranger to working for a West Yorkshire club, having been appointed manager of Leeds United's under-21's in 2022 after spending time working with UEFA and also as England's futsal head coach.
After less than a year at Elland Road, Skubala was handed the interim manager's job in February 2023 following Jesse Marsch's departure, where he managed three matches before Javi Gracia's arrival, where he then became part of his first-team coaching staff.
Skubala was plucked from United by Lincoln to try and lead the club to the Championship over two years ago, but they could now face somewhat of a challenge to keep him, with Huddersfield very much keen on acquiring his services following dispensing of Grant's services.
