Fabio Grosso appointed Fiorentina head coach for the next two seasons

Fabio Grosso has been appointed Fiorentina head coach for the next two seasons, the club said in a statement on Monday.

He arrives after guiding Sassuolo back to Serie A and consolidating them in mid-table, finishing 11th this season.

Grosso is tasked with lifting the Viola, who endured a difficult campaign and finished 15th after spending long spells in the relegation places.

A 2006 World Cup winner as a player, he also represented Olympique Lyonnais from 2007 to 2009 before a short spell as their head coach from September to November 2023.

His earlier managerial stops include Bari in 2017-2018, Hellas Verona from 2018 to May 2019, Brescia between November and December 2019, Sion from 2020 to March 2021, then Frosinone from March 2021 to 2023, where he first impressed.
