Much has been made of Liverpool’s plans for the upcoming summer transfer window, with the club looking to strengthen after a disappointing campaign.

The reigning Premier League champions currently find themselves in a battle to qualify for European competition this season, with a finish outside the top seven now looking surprisingly possible.

For many supporters, the transfer window represents the perfect opportunity for the club to take action and ensure they return to the very top of English football next season.

Several positions need to be addressed, with a move for Jeremy Jacquet already agreed, but it looks as though Richard Hughes could already be making a massive mistake.

Liverpool at serious risk of losing star to rivals

One of the key areas supporters are keen for the Reds’ recruitment team to address is the midfield, with the future of almost every Liverpool midfielder currently uncertain.

A whole host of potential targets have been linked with Merseyside moves but the latest update from Fabrizio Romano will have left some Reds worried that Liverpool are going to miss out.

The reliable transfer insider shared on Monday that Manchester United have Sandro Tonali ‘very high’ on their list for the summer, with the Italian open to a move away from Newcastle.

Romano also mentioned Arsenal and Manchester City as interested parties, but there was no mention of Liverpool.

A move to bring Tonali to Anfield has been rumoured before, but it is looking unlikely for the summer at the moment.

The 25-year-old has become a key part of Newcastle’s squad and him moving to one of Liverpool’s biggest rivals would be a huge blow for the Reds.

Manchester City are also reportedly leading the race for Elliot Anderson, who is on Liverpool’s shortlist.

It would be a massive blow if the Reds were to miss out on both Anderson and Tonali to the clubs they will be directly competing with for the Premier League title next season.
