Rangers and Celtic fans invaded the Ibrox pitch after Celtic knocked Rangers out of the Scottish Cup on penalties.
The Old Firm rivals met for the second time in a week after last weekend’s thrilling Scottish Premiership draw, with Celtic booking their place in the cup semi-final with a 4-2 shoot-out victory.
James Tavernier and Djeidi Gassama missed from the spot for Rangers, following a goalless draw between the Glasgow giants. A forgettable game had few flashpoints, with Celtic failing to register a single shot on target until the penalty shootout.
There were ugly scenes at full-time, as a pitch invasion form some Celtic supporters sparked a rival invasion from the home support. Police and stewards worked to create a barrier between the two sets of supports, though objects were hurled.
The fixture had seen a huge increase in away supporters in comparison to recent derbies. Scottish Cup ties entitle away clubs to 20% of the stadium capacity, with around 7,500 Celtic fans granted access to Ibrox after talks with both clubs, the SFA and police authorities.
