According to O Jogo, FC Porto departed Estádio da Luz after 22:00 because a post-match meeting between referee João Pinheiro and mentor Lucílio Baptista, appointed by the FPF’s Refereeing Council (CA) for the clássico, overran.
The meeting at the stadium left the delegates of Benfica and FC Porto waiting to sign the match report.

By procedure, the report must be signed by delegates from both clubs, but only after the referee has met the CA-designated mentor.
On this occasion the discussion took longer than expected, something that did not please either club.
