Former Corinthians defender Felipe has reflected on his time alongside Jesse Lingard at Nottingham Forest and spoken about the midfielder’s move to Corinthians.
“About my time with Jesse Lingard, it was a short spell of a year and a half in England. He is a really good guy, he likes to bring everyone in and has an excellent vibe. He talked and joked with everyone, regardless of language. He has a natural leadership from the experience he gained at Manchester United and other clubs,” he told Gazeta Esportiva.
The pair were team-mates from January to July 2023 as Lingard sought to relaunch his career after leaving Manchester United.
“We already know about his technical quality, his quick dribbling and sharp finishing. He will have an incredible experience and, as he is a very upbeat player, his energy will match perfectly with the Corinthians supporters. I have no doubt it will work.”
Lingard’s last spell in Britain was with Forest in 2022/23, and he had no direct goal contributions in 17 league matches. After his contract ended in June 2023 he spent around six months unattached, then joined FC Seoul in February 2024, leaving after two seasons at the end of 2025 before agreeing to join Corinthians.
He is not yet registered to debut, with the club awaiting paperwork to enter him on the CBF’s BID. He has not played since December 2025 and will need time to regain fitness.
