Five years after a forgettable loan at Valencia, Ferro is enjoying a resurgence at Estoril.

According to Superdeporte, the 28-year-old, who is about to turn 29, joined Estoril in summer 2025 on a two-year deal and has been a regular starter since February. He has made six consecutive starts, scored against Tondela, and this week was named in the Liga Portugal team of the week with Justin de Haas alongside him.

His performances place him among the top 10 centre-backs in Liga Portugal Betclic, a list that also features Justin de Haas, who will join Valencia in July. Estoril sit seventh on 37 points after 26 matches, five behind sixth-placed Famalicao, De Haas’s current side.

Ferro rose rapidly at Benfica after stepping up from the B team, his market value peaking at 18 million euros in December 2019. He arrived at Valencia in January 2021 on loan with a five million valuation as the club sought to reboot his career. Today his valuation stands at 600,000 euros.

Under Javi Gracia he managed only three appearances and 181 minutes in the second half of that season, then struggled to settle. Subsequent spells took him to Hajduk Split and Vitesse before a free move to Estrela Amadora. He has already played more this term than last, with 21 appearances and 11 starts, and across three years in Croatia he did not reach 30 matches.
