The German newspaper Bild's revealed that FIFA's considering radical change to the execution of penalty kicks .. a move that could reshape one of football's most decisive moments.

What's the proposed change?

Under the plan, if goalkeeper saves penalty, play will stop immediately. Instead of allowing attackers to follow up, the defending team will restart with goal kick.

Unclear situations

The proposal doesn't yet clarify how to handle rebounds off the post or crossbar .. an issue still under discussion.

When will it take effect?

If approved, the new law would apply from the 2026 /27 season making the 2026 World cup the last major tournament under current penalty rules.
