The STJD has charged Flamengo after clashes between supporters and police outside the Maracanã following the derby against Vasco, creating the prospect of a loss of home advantage.

According to UOL, the case has been framed under article 213 of the CBJD, which allows punishment for failing to prevent or repress disorder at a sporting venue.

The prosecutor has requested the loss of home advantage and a fine of R$ 100,000.

The case is due to be heard in first instance on Thursday 14 by the STJD’s Third Disciplinary Commission. Flamengo are preparing their defence in an effort to avoid the sanction.

After the match with Vasco, confrontations broke out between Flamengo fans and police. One supporter lost the sight in one eye after being struck by a rubber bullet.
