Flamengo have been dealt a late blow, with Luiz Araújo ruled out of the Brasileirão meeting with Internacional due to muscle pain, according to Coluna Do Fla.

The forward has been managed carefully since the start of 2026. He missed the league opener as part of load management.

He was named on the bench for Sunday’s Supercopa do Brasil final. Fresh muscular issues now sideline the No 7 again.

Flamengo also have two other confirmed absences. Saúl Ñíguez is sidelined as he returns to work after surgery on his left heel, while Jorginho misses out following his red card in the opening match against São Paulo at Morumbis.

Lucas Paquetá will make his second debut for the club. He is expected to start on the bench, although a starting role has not been ruled out given his strong fitness.

The match kicks off at 19:00 Brasília time on Wednesday at the Maracanã, in the second round of the Brasileirão.
