Florent Ghisolfi faces a £18.5m Simon Adingra call as Sunderland streamline their squad. Milan Aleksić has joined Partizan Belgrade on loan and Nazariy Rusyn is close to Karpaty Lviv.
According to Sunderland Echo, AS Monaco have declined their purchase option after his January loan. That clause would not have matched Sunderland’s full outlay to Brighton but was set to recoup a significant chunk. A renegotiation remains possible.
Adingra is with Ivory Coast at the World Cup. He missed a late chance against Germany this week, moments before Deniz Undav sealed the win. A strong finish could lift his confidence and attract fresh interest.
Sunderland must decide whether he fits Régis Le Bris’s plans next season. There were positives, including a crisp goal in the 1-1 draw with Leeds. Defensive demands often blunted his strengths, though a more attacking finish might help in pre-season.
Competition on the left is strong. Chemsdine Talbi impressed and Nilson Angulo caught the eye in training after injury. Romaine Mundle could depart but is due back for pre-season, and Enzo Le Fée is another option there.
New SCR rules judge sales against book value. Sunderland paid about £18.5m on a five-year deal, so a sale around £15m now would be a cash loss but near break even in SCR terms.
Offers will need weighing carefully. If bids imply a heavy loss, a loan to rebuild confidence and value could appeal, though another flat campaign is risky. Getting this right matters on and off the pitch.
