Enzo Maresca believes Cole Palmer can be a reference and someone to learn from for Brazilian youngster Estevao Willian.

Estevao arrived at Chelsea this summer after the Club World Cup, although the Blues agreed a deal worth up to £51.4m with Palmeiras back in 2024.

The 18-year-old has started two of Chelsea’s opening four Premier League games, and has put in some impressive performances.

Cole Palmer a reference for Estevao

Estevao became the youngest player in Chelsea history to register a Premier League assist when he set up Enzo Fernandez against West Ham.

Joao Pedro has likened Estevao to Vinicius Junior, and Brazil boss Carlo Ancelotti has been impressed by what he’s seen from the teenager.

The youngster missed the Brentford game with illness, but came off the bench against Bayern Munich, and Paul Merson has called on Estevao to start against Manchester United.

The youngster has still got so much to learn and a long way to go with his development, and Maresca believes Palmer could be a reference for Estevao.

“Cole can be a reference for Estevao no doubt,” he told Sky Sports News.

“Also because he needs to adapt, he needs to understand many things, and Cole for sure can help Estevao do that.”

Despite Maresca saying Palmer can be a reference, the duo have yet to start a competitive game together for Chelsea.
