Nottingham Forest delivered a decisive blow to Tottenham Hotspur’s tentative revival with a commanding 3-0 win at the City Ground on Sunday.
Just as Spurs had begun to hint at stability after recent positive results, Forest exposed lingering fragilities and pulled themselves further clear of the relegation zone.
Sean Dyche’s side played with aggression and clarity from the opening whistle, setting the tone by pinning Tottenham deep in their own half.
Forest could have taken an early lead when Ibrahim Sangare’s fourth-minute header struck the base of the post, a warning Spurs failed to heed.
The pressure eventually told midway through the first half, and it came from a moment that summed up Forest’s sharpness and Tottenham’s uncertainty.
Guglielmo Vicario’s loose pass invited danger, and Sangare pounced before squaring unselfishly for Hudson-Odoi to finish from close range.
Forest continued to play with confidence while Spurs struggled to impose any authority on the contest.
Tottenham’s only effort on target before the break came from a hopeful strike that failed to trouble John Victor.
Forest remained the more purposeful side and threatened again through Morgan Gibbs-White and Igor Jesus as Spurs laboured through a disjointed first half.
Hudson-Odoi’s second goal swiftly extinguished any hope of a reset after the interval.
The winger drifted in from the left and sent a high cross towards the far post that caught Vicario in no man’s land before dropping into the net.
It was a moment of quality mixed with fortune but fully in keeping with Hudson-Odoi’s influence on the match.
Forest’s dominance was confirmed late on when Sangare capped an impressive midfield display with a thunderous long-range strike that flew past Vicario.
The goal sealed a comprehensive victory and underlined Forest’s growing confidence under Dyche.
Hudson-Odoi was at the heart of everything Forest did well, carrying threat, pressing with intent and punishing Tottenham’s mistakes.
The win moved Forest further away from immediate danger and hinted at the possibility of climbing the table rather than merely surviving.
