Forest looking to sign Mateta from Crystal Palace

Nottingham Forest are looking to sign Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta in what would be one of the more surprising signings of the season.

It's hard to imagine the Eagles wanting too much to do with Forest after last summer's hostilities over the Europa League and Conference League places.

However, Mateta has expressed his desire to leave the club and has a contract that expires at the end of the season. According to journalists Jason Burt and John Percy of Telegraph Sport, a fee of around £35 million would be needed to sign the player.

With both sides separated by just three points and Palace on an 11-game winless run the club may well wait and hope that another suitor comes calling for Mateta.

The 28-year-old French international has scored 10 games in 34 games in all competitions for the Eagles this season.
