Real Madrid’s latest defeat to Celta Vigo has put immense pressure on Xabi Alonso, even raising question marks over his future at the club.

The Spaniard has clearly failed to get a grip of the dressing room, with his overly aggressive tactical approach and no-nonsense rotation policy impacting sentiment in the dressing room.

This has been coupled with Real Madrid’s poor form, with the recent defeat to Celta Vigo giving Barcelona the opportunity to extend their lead to four points at the top of the table.

This has led to speculation over Alonso’s future, with Real Madrid reportedly eyeing Jurgen Klopp as a potential replacement.

Klopp happy with his current role

The Athletic journalist Mario Cortegana has acknowledged the links to Klopp in his latest report, but he has confirmed that Klopp has no desire to join Real Madrid just yet.

As per Cortegana, Klopp is happy with his current role at Red Bull, where he serves as the company’s global sporting director for footballing operations.

That means Klopp essentially oversees clubs such as RB Leipzig, RB Bragantino, RB Salzburg, RB Omiya, Paris FC and Leeds United.

Why Klopp could be reluctant to leave

Klopp joined the role at the start of the year and is more than happy with his position at Red Bull. So it is hard to imagine him leaving Red Bull in favour of a move to Real Madrid.

It must be noted that Klopp’s presence within the Red Bull franchise could increase considerably in the future, especially if we take into account the rise of Oliver Mintzlaff.

The former CEO of RB Leipzig has become the CEO of Corporate Projects and Investments in the Red Bull group and oversees operations in Formula One, football and other sports divisions.

Although Klopp comes from a more hardcore footballing background, his role at Red Bull has proven that he is interested in a bigger, business-oriented role. A move to Real Madrid, therefore, is currently not on the table.
