Jack Baldwin has joined Hornchurch ahead of the new season after leaving Colchester United. The former Sunderland centre-back is 32.
According to Sunderland Echo, Hornchurch said they saw off interest from EFL and National League clubs to sign him. The club highlighted his more than 280 EFL appearances.
He moved to Sunderland from Peterborough United in summer 2018 on a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee, following the Black Cats’ relegation to League One.
Baldwin made 42 appearances and scored 3 goals for Sunderland, including his first in a 2-1 win over Bradford City in October 2018. He left Wearside in summer 2020.
His career has also taken in Hartlepool United, Peterborough United, Bristol Rovers, Ross County and Northampton Town. Hornchurch manager Daryl McMahon described him as a leader and organiser who can help the team on and off the pitch, adding that the club are delighted with the addition.
