Jack Baldwin has signed for Hornchurch after leaving Colchester United. The former Sunderland centre-back is 32.
The Urchins say they fought off interest from EFL and National League clubs to secure his signature. He brings more than 280 EFL appearances.
Baldwin joined Sunderland from Peterborough United in summer 2018 on a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee after relegation to League One. He made 42 appearances and scored three goals, including his first in a 2-1 win over Bradford City in October 2018.
He left Sunderland in summer 2020 after two years on Wearside. His career has also taken in Hartlepool United, Bristol Rovers, Ross County and Northampton Town.
Hornchurch manager Daryl McMahon hailed Baldwin as a leader and organiser with experience and competitiveness, expressing delight at the signing. He believes the defender can help the team improve on and off the pitch as they prepare for the new season.
