According to Glorioso 1904, Fredrik Aursnes is the leading candidate to take the Benfica captain’s armband if Nicolás Otamendi leaves.

The future of Benfica’s defence, and the dressing-room hierarchy, is uncertain, with possible departures of Otamendi and António Silva at the end of the season. That uncertainty has sharpened the question of who would captain José Mourinho’s side.
