Fulham end losing run with win at Sunderland | OneFootball

Raul Jimenez struck twice as Fulham returned to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

After a disjointed first half short on clear chances, the game sparked into life soon after the restart. Jimenez opened the scoring in the 54th minute, rising highest to meet Alex Iwobi’s corner and power a header beyond Robin Roefs.

The Cottagers doubled their lead shortly after when VAR intervened, with referee Craig Pawson awarding a penalty for a shirt pull on Calvin Bassey. Jimenez calmly converted from the spot, maintaining his flawless Premier League penalty record.

The Black Cats responded with a penalty of their own in the 76th minute after Dan Ballard was brought down in the box. Enzo Le Fee drilled his effort into the top corner to reignite hope for the hosts.

However, Marco Silva's side sealed the points five minutes from time. Harry Wilson led a swift counter-attack before slipping in Alex Iwobi, who delicately lifted the ball over Roefs to secure the visitors’ first away league win of the year.

The result ends Fulham’s three-game losing streak and lifts them into the top half of the table.
