After the game, Neuer also commented on his sporting future – and for the first time gave a deeper insight. „I’m not going to announce anything at the moment … but it looks good at the moment,“ the Bayern captain explained on Sky

A statement that is likely to be seen as a positive signal at Säbener Straße

One factor in particular remains decisive for Neuer’s future: his physical condition. The goalkeeper himself makes no secret of the fact that he only wants to continue if he feels 100 per cent fit and can continue to perform at the highest level

Should this be the case, there is currently a lot to suggest that the world-class keeper will stay in the Bayern jersey for another season

Those in charge at FC Bayern are also open to an extension, with Neuer continuing to enjoy a great deal of trust internally – both in sporting terms and as a leading player
