According to Globo.com, Gabriel Bontempo has taken the number eight at Santos, announcing the switch on Friday in a club video that featured Elano.
The change comes with the midfielder in form, after he scored in Tuesday's 4-1 win over UCV that put Santos on course for the Copa Sudamericana last 16.

Bontempo had worn 49 since being promoted to the senior squad last year.
He said it was an honour to wear a number used by Clodoaldo, Renato and Elano, that he had liked it since his academy days, and that he was happy to represent it now.
His first appearance with the new number will be on Saturday at 18:30 Brasília time against Chapecoense in the Campeonato Brasileiro.
