Palmeiras graduate Gabriel Vareta, 20, ended 2025/26 on a high with Al-Wasl, helping secure next season’s Asian Champions League Elite place.

According to Nosso Palestra, the centre-back made 20 appearances, 15 starts, across the UAE Pro League, UAE League Cup and Champions League Two.

It was his first year in the Emirates and he said he was very happy with the campaign. He felt he developed, gained minutes and confidence, and helped deliver the club’s main objective. He added that he ends the season more mature and prepared for the next challenges.

He joined Al-Wasl in July 2025 after a stint with Al-Fayha, in a permanent move valued at around R$ 20 million.

He shares the squad with Adryelson, formerly of Botafogo, left-back Hugo, who played for Vitória and Botafogo, and Colombian forward Miguel Borja, ex-Palmeiras.

A futsal product who moved into Palmeiras’ academy, he rose through every age group to the under-20s and collected major honours. His titles include the 2024 Brasileiro Under-20, the 2022 Copa do Brasil Under-17, Brasileiro Under-17 and Paulista Under-17, plus the Paulista Under-20 in 2021 and 2023.
