Manchester United have been trying to offload Marcus Rashford ever since he publicly revealed his desire to try a new adventure away from Old Trafford.
Since that fateful interview dropped, Ruben Amorim has not afforded him a minute of action with the pair’s relationship reportedly beyond repair after the head coach’s latest brutal comments.
AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund had tried their luck but moved on to other targets after the Mancunian’s stance of favouring a move to Barcelona came to light.
However, despite Barca boss Hansi Flick’s admiration for the United No 10, the Catalan giants have failed to make space for the Carrington graduate in their squad and with less than a week to go in the January window, time is running out for Rashford.
Which is why he is reportedly open to alternate options with The Peoples Person recently relaying that Turkish giants Galatasaray and Fenerbahce were interested in his services.
While the Fener vice-president refuted such claims, Turkish outlet Fotomac have claimed Gala want to drop a transfer “bombshell” by agreeing a six-month loan for the Englishman.
In a separate social media post, the outlet claimed, “Galatasaray is close to reaching an agreement to loan Manchester United’s left winger Marcus Rashford.”
Manager Okan Buruk has already given his green light for the deal as he feels the 27-year-old can double up as a striker as well as a winger which would be hugely beneficial for the Turkish giants given Mauro Icardi’s absence.
“Okan Buruk is expected to use Marcus Rashford in important roles in both the 3-man system and the 4-man system. It is reported that the experienced footballer can play as a double forward with Victor Osimhen and can sometimes be on the wings.”
Interestingly, the report also revealed that Galatasaray were open to paying Rashford’s wages for the second half of the season, something INEOS want as they do not want to pay a dime since the player had initiated exit talks.
“Galatasaray aims to loan Rashford until the end of the season. Just like Victor Osimhen, who was loaned at the beginning of the season, Cimbom, who aim to complete this transfer in a similar manner, agrees to pay Rashford’s remaining salary.”
The England international earns £15,600,000 gross per year, which amounts to and £7,800,000 for the remaining season. His weekly wages stand at £300,000 gross per week (via capology).
A cursory glance at Gala’s wage bill shows Osimhen and Icardi are their highest earners, earning £161,561 per week, which is significantly less than that of the Carrington graduate.
How they will make up this shortfall remains to be seen. It will also be interesting to see whether Rashford agrees to the move given his heart is set on a move to the Camp Nou.
Alternate options include Besiktas and even Premier League sides like Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United even though INEOS are unlikely to entertain the idea of strengthening a direct domestic rival.
