Nikolaj Coster-Waldau used Sunday’s Soccer Aid stage to show his Leeds United colours, delivering a brisk salute to the camera before kick-off. A clip on X captured the Danish actor acknowledging the gesture with a nod and smile.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the annual charity match was staged at West Ham’s London Stadium, a week after Leeds lost 3-0 there in their final 2025/26 Premier League game. England beat the World XI 3-2 and the event raised £16.5million for UNICEF UK, with strikes from the likes of Jermain Defoe, Michael Essien and Tim Cahill.

Each team featured ex-players and celebrities, with the World XI managed by sprint great Usain Bolt. Coster-Waldau, a well-known Leeds supporter, was named in the starting line-up.

Playing at right-back, he was withdrawn after barely 20 minutes for Gladiators star Nitro. It was still goalless then, so he left with an individual clean sheet.

Best known for portraying Jamie Lannister in Game of Thrones, the 55-year-old appeared across every season and earned two Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor.

Since the series ended in 2019, he has starred in The Last Thing He Told Me and BBC historical drama King & Conqueror as William, Duke of Normandy. He also fronted a BBC message to Marcelo Bielsa after Leeds’ 2019/20 promotion and later joked on Jimmy Kimmel Live that Bielsa could magically transform the world for good.
