Leeds are pressing ahead this summer with a major Elland Road redevelopment that targets a capacity rise from around 37,000 to 53,000 and UEFA Category four status, and Gary McAllister says he is really excited to see it.
“There were talks about moving away from Elland Road - I'm so glad they haven't,” “I'm really pleased that they're staying at Elland Road.” According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the project is under way with stadium facilities and fan experience central to the plans.
“I've seen the pictures. In all honesty, Elland Road is a bit tired at the moment. It needs help. So, I'm really excited to see the new stadium, but it definitely needs it.”
The wider scheme includes developing the area around the ground, including a mass transit system and up to 2,500 affordable homes.
The owners are expected to invest in Daniel Farke’s squad again this summer, having spent around £100million after Championship promotion.
Expansion is forecast to significantly grow Leeds’ revenues, an important factor under the Premier League’s new Squad Cost Ratio rules.
