Roma prepares for the final five league games with encouraging news on the injury front.
After Mancini and Pisilli, Gian Piero Gasperini is ready to reinstate three starters. Wesley, Koné, and Dybala are all eyeing next Saturday’s match at the Dall’Ara against Bologna.
According to Il Corriere dello Sport, the quickest recovery is Wesley, who was sidelined during the last international break with the Brazil national team due to a muscle-tendon injury to his right hamstring.
Despite the initial prognosis for a month’s layoff, the full-back forced his return: as Gasperini himself admitted, the player had wanted to start against Atalanta, but was only held back by the medical staff’s precautionary advice. His presence in Bologna is expected to be guaranteed.
A similar story applies to Manu Koné, whose enforced absence will end after 41 days.
The French midfielder has been out since March 15th with a right hamstring injury. Both he and Wesley are candidates for a starting spot against the Rossoblu, providing the momentum that has been lacking in recent outings.
Paulo Dybala’s path is different. The Argentine, who underwent meniscus surgery on March 6th, is expected to return to the squad. For “La Joya,” a personal mini-tournament begins: he has the final five games of the season to demonstrate his fitness and convince the club to proceed with a contract renewal, which currently expires on June 30th.
