‘Gave my best’ Joao Gomes thanks Wolves after £38million move to Aston Villa | OneFootball

Joao Gomes has thanked Wolves after completing his £38million move to Aston Villa.

The player said in a video on Instagram and a further post that the club helped him grow as a player and a person, and while leaving after relegation was not what he wanted, he was satisfied he had given his best in every training session and game. He added he would keep supporting the team and would remain grateful, describing his community work at Molineux as his greatest legacy.

The Brazilian midfielder departs after three-and-a-half years and 130 appearances, moving across the West Midlands from Molineux to Villa.

Gomes was a regular at Wolves Foundation activities, taking a particular interest in the Wolf Words project.

The scheme saw him, who has a stammer, visit schools offering support to children with speech and language difficulties.

He was named a PFA community champion earlier this year and was the club’s community player of the year last season.
