The agent of Manchester United forward Geyse has accused the club of trying to loan her out to clubs in the United States while she attended her brother’s funeral.

Geyse was recently given compassionate leave by United after the death of her brother Geovane Ferreira and missed four matches across January and February.

The Brazilian has so far this season made 11 appearances across all competitions, nine of which have come in the WSL, with six of those being starts.

Since she returned to the club, Geyse has found playing time hard to come by. She was brought in in the 84th minute of United’s 2-0 win over Leicester City on Saturday afternoon.

After the clash, Geyse posted a cryptic message on Instagram, explaining her feelings of loneliness and being unhappy amidst her struggles.

The 26-year-old wrote, “Staying in a place where we don’t feel happy is an agonising and lonely feeling. Every day seems heavier, and the simple fact of being there becomes a burden.”

“The environment, which should be welcoming, becomes a field of discomfort, where inner peace is difficult to find. When we are not in tune with what surrounds us, the world around us loses its colour and energy.”

“Sometimes, the desire for change arises as an urgent need, but the fear of the unknown or insecurity about the future can paralyse us. However, it is essential to remember that we deserve to be in places and situtions that bring us happiness and fulfilment. That’s the only way we can grow.”

Now, The Telegraph report that United have been accused of attempting to loan Geyse out while she was attending her brother’s funeral.

Her agent, Luis Filipe Silva, told the newspaper, “As you know, her brother passed away, she is going through a very difficult time, it is a very difficult time psychologically and at Man United she is not having the best time. She needs to regain the joy of playing football and doesn’t have it for several reasons.”

“The club has clearly shown that it does not count on Geyse, Man United tried to loan Geyse to a club in the USA, but the player has the right to decide about her future and the club she will play for.”

“It was clear that the club and the coach don’t count on her – the pressure of being in a place where you feel you are not wanted is tremendous. It is a huge psychological pressure. We are sad and want the best for Geyse.”

Silva added about Geyse’s relationship with United boss Marc Skinner, “The coach knows what we think. There is no relationship whatsoever. Professional only. Man United made a huge effort to sign Geyse from Barcelona, her quality is recognised by everyone.”

“The best solution for all parties is to leave and I repeat, Man United was the first to try to loan the player when she was at her brother’s funeral.”

“We are aware of Geyse’s value and at peace, because even with few opportunities, it is with pride that we know that the best coaches in the world want Geyse, and they are coaches elected as the best in the world and who have already won everything, they are top coaches and clubs, we are happy that they can clearly see Geyse’s talent and how to enhance it.”

“Geyse wants to return to the Brazilian national team and at the moment it is impossible. But if the best coaches in the world want Geyse at this terrible time, we are honoured.”

“At the moment the best solution is for Geyse to be loaned, it is good for all parties. Now we hope that the club will show common sense and understand Geyse’s situation and not make negotiations difficult, since they were the ones who offered the player behind our backs.”

“Geyse needs to be happy again and have peace.”

United signed Geyse in the summer of 2023 from Barcelona for a club-record fee.

There is still a chance that she leaves United in the next few weeks, with the transfer window in the US open until March 24.
