Green Brigade in fresh ’empty promises’ swipe at Celtic Board | OneFootball

The Green Brigade have slammed the Celtic board in a statement as they hit out at ‘continued empty promises’…

Fresh on from the Celtic Supporters Association blasting statement, it’s now the turn of the Green Brigade to speak their mind, and in doing so who will speak for many Celtic supporters with their recent comments on those who are ruining our club from within.

The statement from the fan group said:

“The Green Brigade echoes the concerns of the Celtic Supporters Association and reiterates our longstanding call for meaningful change within the Celtic FC hierarchy.

They have also proven they do not possess the strength of character to hold Dermot Desmond to account for the direction of the club.

Michael Nicholson and Chris McKay have repeatedly demonstrated their inability to fulfil the responsibilities of their roles.

While their record on football matters is sufficient to merit their removal, we cannot overlook the continued ill-treatment of supporters.

Following the unprecedented five-month suspension of 250 Celtic supporters last season, which was eventually revoked in full alongside compensation for those affected, the club has re-suspended two Green Brigade members.

This suspension is driven by Mark Hargreaves, with the consent of Nicholson and McKay, as part of a petty and vindictive campaign of harassment against the Green Brigade.

This falls against a backdrop of continued empty-promises from the Celtic board to engage with supporters and improve communication channels.

The only consistent communications supporters receive are marketing and merchandise campaigns designed to extract more of our cash while re-investing little in the team or infrastructure of the club.

Until these changes happen, we encourage all supporters to commit to ‘Not Another Penny’ and support the Celtic Fans Collective.”

Strong words from the popular fan group, following the Celtic Supporters Association’s and Celtic Trust’ recent condemnation of the Celtic board. Pressure is clearly mounting and the only way this tension will reduce is through the Board acting to back the manager and listen to the concerns of the Celtic support.

The club’s cowardly ban on Celtic Fan Media continues, with even their claim that it was to be reviewed seeming like just another instance of kicking the can down the road. Despite this the fan media is flourishing and collectively is a powerful voice for the Celtic support.
