Mason Greenwood struck late to give Marseille a 1-0 win over Monaco on Sunday, with Geronimo Rulli pivotal with a string of saves.

Monaco created the clearer chances before the break, Rulli intervening several times, and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg blocked a Folarin Balogun effort in the 43rd minute as the goalkeeper was beaten. L'Équipe notes the Argentine was busy throughout.

After the restart Monaco briefly thought they had scored in the 51st minute, only for an offside flag. Greenwood then teed up Matt O'Riley in the 56th minute, but Thilo Kehrer denied the substitute, and Mohammed Salisu blocked another Greenwood strike in the 70th minute.

Monaco had another finish ruled out for offside in the 80th minute. Two minutes later Hojbjerg slipped Greenwood through and the forward drove in left foot to settle it, with Paixao involved in the build up.

Rulli made another important stop in the 90th minute to close it out. O'Riley, introduced at half-time, added energy but the night belonged to Greenwood and the goalkeeper.
