Pep Guardiola says he wants to see other names on the scoresheet after Erling Haaland bagged a brace to earn City a 2-0 win over Everton.

The Norwegian had further chances to add to his tally in added time but has an incredible 23 goals for club and country this season.

However, the Blues’ boss - though pleased with the overall performance of his players - wants Haaland's team-mates to chip in and believes they could and should have done so before our top scorer's second-half double.

Asked if he is concerned by the lack of goals being spread around the team, Pep replied: “Definitely. Erling could have scored four or five in the end. Our key man, what can I say? At the same time we can’t rely on him.

“We want to do good things, not just Erling. The wingers, the attacking midfielders and the other players have to make a step up.

“The chances that we create are so clear and they have to score goals.

“Savinho had two, Jeremy had two, Tijjani had two. They have to score at that level.”

Everton had a couple of good chances themselves, with Beto inches away from giving the visitors a first-half lead.

But the boss believes the Everton chances were largely because of his own team’s mistakes.

“Of course they had chances [too] because we gave away a few balls,” he said.

“They are good at long balls, second balls and of course, teams with David Moyes are really good in those terms.

“In general, it was well deserved. We create so many chances, especially after 1-0.

“The impact of the guys from the bench, Bernardo, Oscar and Rayan Cherki that has special talent.

“Rico and Kova too. We have another victory and it’s good to restart after 10 days.

“In the first 20 minutes, this always happens after international break.

“We are not completely in the dynamic that we have. With a win against Brentford we had a good result but then we struggle to come back.

“In general, it was a good game, especially in the second half and this weekend we will sleep in the Champions League positions. That’s good.”
