Harry Redknapp has been talking about Newcastle United.
The former Spurs boss discussing Eddie Howe and his team ahead of the weekend.
Newcastle United travelling to the City Ground.
A 2pm kick-off on Sunday.
Harry Redknapp talking to BetVictor ahead of Newcastle United visiting Nottingham Forest:
“Can anyone stop Nottingham Forest?
“This side just have so much confidence right now and I think they can aim big; I don’t see why they can’t target a European spot.
“Newcastle needed that win last week, as did Eddie Howe.
“From fourth downwards it’s all very tight so Newcastle are by no means out of the race for the top four, I can see them going on a decent run.
“Chris Wood back against the side that sold him, will he score? I’m picking a draw.
“Score prediction: Nottingham Forest 1 Newcastle 1
“One to watch – Alexander Isak looked more like himself against Arsenal and if he can keep firing them in, they’ll climb that table in no time.”
I have no argument with the Harry Redknapp score prediction, as this is the game where I think all three results are possible.
Newcastle United one of only two teams to have beaten Forest this season.
Interesting that Harry Redknapp sees United potentially going on a positive run of results, with those wins against Chelsea and Arsenal in the last two games.
Newcastle United have played 13 matches (all competitions) so far in the 2024/25 season. Apart from League Two AFC Wimbledon, the other 12 games have been against Premier League clubs.
Nine of those twelve have been against teams currently higher than Newcastle United in the Premier League, only three have been against teams currently below United in the table. Those three games saw seven points picked up but it should really have been nine from nine, because as well as winning against Southampton and Wolves, United battered Everton and should have won (failed penalty, Gordon through one on one, Everton player clears Bruno effort off line when knew little about it, 10 v 0 on corners, 68% possession, 42 touches in the Everton penalty area compared to 13 for the scousers at the other end etc etc).
Anyway, looking forward after the excellent performances and wins against Chelsea and Arsenal, Newcastle United now face surprise package Forest (who NUFC have already defeated away from home…) on Sunday.
However, Newcastle United then have seven matches before Christmas (see match schedule below) where Eddie Howe’s side play Liverpool at home, as well as six teams who are currently below United in the Premier League table.
