Gary Neville feels it's time for some interference at Liverpool as results continue to suffer. And he's absolutely right.
Liverpool fell to yet another defeat this weekend as Brentford saw them of 3-2 at home. That's now four consecutive Premier League defeats - equalling the number the team suffered last season.
In fact, Liverpool had lost just four times in their previous 47 matches. It's been an unprecedented run and right on the back of a title-winning season and a record-breaking transfer window.
No one saw this coming but Liverpool just aren't a functional team right now. They're struggling for any sort of rhythm and in truth, have been all season long.
The Reds didn't look comfortable even when they were winning games. They're too open, far too easy to score against, and stagnant in attack.
Something needs to change, as Gary Neville explained.
“If he carries on playing [Milos] Kerkez at left-back and he carries on playing [Conor] Bradley at right-back, and they carry on being as exposed as they are in midfield, you’ll keep getting the same results," said Neville on Sky Sports.
“Every single game you’ll be flipping a coin and thinking, ‘Are we gonna win or are we gonna lose?’, and that can’t be what Liverpool are about with the way they’ve performed in these last 12 months.
“I like the manager a lot, I like his way of working, I like his manner in press conferences, it doesn’t look like there’s any panic there from him.
“But deep down, it looks like he’s going to have to interfere with this. He cannot keep allowing the same things to happen each week.”
