🎥 Hemp seals WSL return with wonder strike in Manchester derby | OneFootball

Manchester City Women are on their way to a statement derby result against Manchester United, with Andrée Jeglertz's side up 3-0 at half-time.

It's been a dominant display from City on their home patch, with an opening goal from Rebecca Knaak and a second from Khadija Shaw putting them comfortably ahead, but a wonder strike from Lauren Hemp stole the show in the opening 45 minutes.

Hemp was picked out at the top of the box by Kerstin Casparij after the Dutch international drove into the attacking third, before the English winter unleashed a thunderbolt into the top corner beyond Safia Patel.

It was the perfect way for the 25-year-old to announce her return to City's XI in her first start for the club since September.

City will remain at the top of the table should they see out the result against their rivals, and will open up a four-point gap between themselves and WSL giants Chelsea, who lock horns with Liverpool tomorrow.
