Uli Hoeneß has insisted that Harry Kane deserves to score Bayern Munich’s record-breaking 102nd Bundesliga goal this season.

Bayern’s honorary president expressed his deep admiration for the English striker during a joint interview with Kicker, alongside Michael Roth, the former long-term president of FC Nürnberg.

Bayern currently hold the league record for the most goals scored in a single season with 101, but the current squad looks set to surpass that historic tally before the campaign concludes.

Hoeneß believes Kane is the ideal player to etch his name into the German record books. He highlighted the striker’s remarkable professionalism since his high-profile arrival from Tottenham Hotspur.

“The 102nd goal must be scored by Kane,” Hoeneß told the German publication, noting that the striker has earned the honour through his selfless contributions to the squad.

Kane’s impact during the 2025-26 campaign has been undeniable. He has consistently led the line with clinical precision, while his presence has also elevated those around him — including young talents like Jamal Musiala and Michael Olise.

Hoeneß emphasised that Kane’s humility sets him apart in modern football, describing him as someone who carries himself as a genuine peer both on and off the pitch.

Statistically, Kane is on track to challenge the individual single-season scoring record of 41 goals. He has already surpassed the 30-goal mark for the third consecutive year in Germany, according to Transfermarkt.

His ability to link play and drop deep has also transformed Bayern’s attacking transitions under Vincent Kompany. Hoeneß concluded that the club is fortunate to have such a world-class talent leading the line.
