The sixth round of the Brasileirão concluded on Monday, and Corinthians climbed two places to eighth on eight points.
The 1-1 draw at Santos on Sunday did little to please supporters. According to Meu Timao, slips by direct rivals, combined with that point, shaped the new standings.
The draw also reshaped gaps to teams above them. Coritiba and Flamengo are on 10 points and hold the final Libertadores berths. The gap to the G5 is now two, with Bahia on 11, and eighth currently places Corinthians in the 2027 Copa Sudamericana spots.
The gap to the leaders also widened. São Paulo lead with 16 points, with Fluminense and Palmeiras next on 13 after six rounds. Corinthians are five points off that leading trio.
Corinthians, Red Bull Bragantino and Grêmio are the only sides on eight points. Athletico Paranaense and Vitória trail on seven, while Chapecoense, Mirassol and Santos have six.
The lower half comprises teams who have started inconsistently. Vasco da Gama and Atlético Mineiro have five points and sit just above the drop zone. In the Z4, Botafogo, Remo and Cruzeiro each have three, with Internacional bottom on two from 18 available.
Corinthians visit Chapecoense on Thursday 19 for round seven, kick-off 21:30 at Arena Condá.
