According to Football Insider, the Blades have no plans to cash in on the playmaker despite the possibility of a move to the Premier League.

Hamer joined the Yorkshire outfit from Coventry City in the 2023 summer transfer market, and has been a crucial player in the years since.

However, his contract is set to expire in 2027, which has fuelled speculation over a potential exit from Bramall Lane, particularly following the club’s failure to gain promotion last season.

Here we use estimated figures from Capology to see how much Hamer is currently earning in Chris Wilder’s side…

Hamer signed in 2023, penning a four year contract after the club gained promotion to the Premier League under Paul Heckingbottom.

While the midfielder earned a lot of credit for his performances in his first season, Sheffield United suffered relegation back to the Championship.

Hamer continued to be a key performer in the side, contributing nine goals and seven assists as the team finished third in the table under Wilder.

The 28-year-old’s performances showed that he deserved to be a top earner at Bramall Lane, with his £30,000 per week salary bettered by only one player in the current squad.

Summer signing Japhet Tanganga is currently the best paid member of the Sheffield United first team squad, earning £35,000 per week.

Tom Davies and Danny Ings are also receiving £30,000 per week from the Blades, with the team looking to turn around their poor form at the moment.

Hamer’s impact in front of goal has become diminished this term, with the club struggling for results in the aftermath of their play-off final loss in May.

January may also be Sheffield United’s last chance to earn a major windfall for the player, as he will enter the final 12 months of his deal next summer.

Leeds United’s top earner

Leeds competed with Sheffield United for automatic promotion to the Premier League last season, with the Whites coming out on top alongside Burnley.

The Whites are currently 15th in the top flight table after eight games, having earned eight points.

Daniel Farke’s side could look to use the January market in order to bolster their chances of survival, as they aim to consolidate their place in the division.

Their top earner at the moment is summer signing Dominic Calvert-Lewin, with the forward earning £100,000 per week.

He is the only player receiving a six-figure weekly sum at Elland Road at the moment, with Jack Harrison being the closest at £90,000-a-week.

Sean Longstaff and Daniel James are on £80,000 and £75,000 per week, respectively.

Leeds’s total weekly payroll amounts to £1.1 million, which is more than double the equivalent figure for Sheffield United.

On that basis, it’s likely that the Yorkshire rivals could offer Hamer a significant increase on the £30,000 per week he currently receives from Sheffield United, which could entice him to push for the move in the new year.
